October is a good time to seed and fertilize your lawn, aerate and dethatch it.

Time to buy your spring blooming bulbs if you haven't already ordered them. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and crocus. Remember to pre-chill them to insure blooms. Placing them in a bottom drawer of your refrigerator works well.

Trees and shrubs that provide color in the fall include: Burning bush, Maple, Nandina, Pyracantha, Sweet Gum and Crepe Myrtle.

You can apply weed killer to your lawn. If you choose to do this you must wait at least 3 weeks to seed your lawn.

Time to start thinking about bringing in your houseplants. Keep an eye on the nighttime temperatures. Most houseplants can take a night temperature of 50 degrees.

When you do bring in your houseplants, it's always a good idea to clean and spry them for any insects.
